Beethoven: Overture to Egmont
Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto
Beethoven: Symphony No.3 (Eroica)
In 1770, Ludwig van Beethoven was born into very inconspicuous surroundings in the German town of Bonn. Now, 250 years later, he is regarded as one of the greatest musicians of all time. Budleigh’s fabulous Festival Orchestra help celebrate this towering genius’s birthday with his Eroica Symphony, which caused an earthquake in the history of Western classical music, and Beethoven’s dramatic Egmont Overture.
We are delighted to welcome the violinist Benjamin Baker for Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Once deemed unplayable, the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto is now a firm favourite with audiences and soloists alike, being full of beautiful melodies and highly virtuosic instrumental fireworks. We are also delighted to welcome back Budleigh Festival’s previous Artistic Director, Nicholas Marshall, as conductor.
