Schools Performance

The world premiere of a specially commissioned work by Seckou Keita featuring some of the brightest and best young musicians nurtured by Future Talent, a pioneering charity dedicated to supporting gifted young musicians from low-income backgrounds across the UK.  Seckou has used his expertise in Kora playing  and unique composition style to create a 3-movement work, mixing classical music languages with African rhythms and dynamics to produce a piece of music which exudes joy and celebrates friendship.

In addition to working with Seckou, the young players will be joined onstage by 5 professional string players, making this a unique collaboration between the current and future generations of musicians.

This performance is aimed at inspiring young audiences from local state primary and secondary schools, and has been made possible by the generous support of Terry and Jessica Taylor. A limited number of unreserved seats in the side aisles are now available for public booking, giving you the chance to witness first hand this exciting world premiere. The event will last approximately 40 minutes.

Ataya Sonata consists of three movements:

Leuwel Ataya

Niaarel Ataya

Niettel Ataya
