LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN                Horn Sonata Op.17

ROBERT SCHUMANN                           Adagio and Allegro Op.70

ROBERT SCHUMANN                           Aug Einer Burg Op.39 Nr.7

BENJAMIN BRITTEN                              Canticle No.3 – Still Falls the Rain

    BENJAMIN BRITTEN                              Serenade

Bringing together three of the country’s finest musicians, this trio will pay homage to Benjamin Britten, Peter Pears and Dennis Brain with an intimate portrayal of how Britten not only wrote for instruments and voices but also for specific performers.

Britten’s Serenade is one of the greatest pieces of English song, with its ghostly off-stage horn calls and beautiful word settings and is paired with the seldom performed and evocative Canticle No.3.

Ben Goldscheider’s international career  has been stratospheric and he is quickly becoming one of the world’s finest exponents of the solo French Horn repertoire.

James Gilchrist is one of this country’s greatest tenors , an exponent of early music as well as the vocal work of Benjamin Britten.

Anna Tilbrook is one of Britain’s most exciting pianists, with a considerable reputation in song recitals and chamber music.

Expect an evening of instrumental virtuosity, vocal beauty and compositional genius.
