Bob Chilcott: Don’t Go Extinct!
(song cycle for young voices)

BMF Youth Choir

Bob Chilcott: Conductor

BMF Commission in collaboration with Devon Music Hub, world premiere.

A major new commission from our Festival Patron, Bob Chilcott, with words by children’s author, Timothy Knapman, is a celebration of nature, hope and young voices. This world premiere performance will feature over 100 children from local schools joining forces with professional jazz musicians. Conducted by the composer himself, this new work shines a spotlight on the creativity of our community’s youngest musicians as well as the power of collective singing. Alive with colour, rhythm and heartfelt storytelling, Chilcott’s new song cycle is an uplifting reminder that the future of music, and the future of our planet, belongs to the next generation.

Schools include: St Peter’s C of E Primary School Budleigh Salterton; Otterton C of E Primary School; Drake’s C of E Primary School,
East Budleigh; Brixington Primary Academy, Exmouth; Exmouth Community College.

This event is supported by Jamie and Alison Justham and the D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust.

This concert will finish at c. 6.00pm and runs without an interval.
