Ning Feng is one of the world’s outstanding violinists. His extraordinary virtuosity is matched by what the New York Times called “a direct honesty of tone and purpose”. As a student at the Royal Academy of Music he was the only violinist ever to be awarded 100% for his final recital. He makes his debut at the Festival with a sensational recital. JS Bach’s solo Sonatas and Partitas are some of the greatest pieces in the violin canon and these are crowned by the intense Chaconne (Ciaconna), written in memoriam to his first wife. Ysaÿe’s solo sonatas are cornerstones of 20th century violin virtuosity, while Paganini’s Caprices are the most technically demanding works ever written for the violin. This is a recital that simply must not be missed.
