The Budleigh Music Festival 2020 may be cancelled this year but for music lovers, all is not lost with a free online programme for Friends of the Festival.
The new Artistic Director, Jason Thornton, has come up with an exciting free offer for the Festival’s Friends – the opportunity to stream a digital programme of interactive talks featuring some of the extraordinary musicians we would have seen at the Festival this summer.
He will be talking to them and introducing their music in a series of five digital Zoom sessions throughout July which you can watch at home. And there will be more to come later in the year.
These sessions are to feature the soprano Elin Manahan Thomas, the violinist Benjamin Baker, the young pianist Lauren Zhang, and members of the L’Ondon Ensemble Sasha Rattle and Zeynep Ozsuca. Another session will bring together Jason and the Director of the Budleigh Literary Festival, Annie Ashworth, where they will discuss ideas for the future of both festivals. The Festival’s Friends will receive invitations by email to join these Zoom sessions.
The coronavirus pandemic has had overwhelming economic implications for musicians and music festivals all over the world. The contribution of the Friends has been invaluable to the security of the Festival. We thank you and ask, if you enjoy our programme of digital content, why not also consider telling your contacts about it and asking if they would be interested in becoming a Friend?
If you are not a Friend already but would like to be part of this exciting initiative, then click here to download an application with instructions on how to complete the process of joining. We look forward to welcoming you!
