Cai Charles and Oliver Manning met at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where they formed the Wales Guitar Duo; they break preconceived concert platform expectations with their choice of repertoire.

Oliver became a Julian Bream Trust Scholar in 2023, supporting his postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music. Previously he was awarded first prizes in the John Mills Guitar Competition and the Orpheus Voice & Guitar Competition, he received two McGrenery Chamber Competition nominations and won the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales award for music.

Cai had great success at Wales’ National Eisteddfod in 2023 where he won the Solo String competition and was selected as one of the four best musicians to compete for the prestigious Rhuban Glas award. He performed in affiliation with ‘Ty Cerdd’, giving the Welsh premiere of Cinema Paradiso. He also gave the UK premiere of the Tamez ‘Dos Dalias’ concerto during the World Harp Congress 2022.

This concert has been kindly sponsored by Robin Arnold.
