Maxim began playing cello aged 4. He studied at the Menuhin School and the Royal College of Music, making his concerto début in the Grand Final of the BBC Young Musician competition 2018 with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist, Maxim has performed at the Menuhin hall, Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Tonhalle Zurich and Kulturcasino Bern to great acclaim. He is an ABRSM Scholar and Countess of Munster Recital Scheme Artist (2023/24 season). Maxim plays an Alberto Aloyisius Blanchi cello from 1906.
